Koukaki, Filopappou, Gargaretta

Maro Vougiouka, Vassilis Megaridis

The authors portray the three areas of Athens – Koukaki, Filopappou, Gargaretta – from the antiquity to nowadays, but not in a simple chronological way. There are chapters on the naming of the different locations, the buildings, the streets, the schools, the first cinemas, the professions and the everyday life of the inhabitants. It focuses also in the changes of the area and the people throughout major events such as the Second World War and the Civil War and it mentions the most well known inhabitants of the areas that nowadays we just call “Koukaki”.
