Brennand, Francisco- Born in the city of Recife in the state of Pernambuco (Northeastern Brazil) in 1927. A painter, a ceramics artist and tapestry designer. He stands out as one of the major creators of a new art idiom in the Northeast. A true representative of the so-called Pernambuco Painting School.
“I am a modern artist, a contemporary man not divorced from intuition but someone who keeps a clear distance from the uncritical intuitives. Of course, the mere pleasure of painting sometimes leads me unexpectedly through the inroads of mythology and prophecy. But then this is always the case in art.”
